Our Services

In cooperation with treatment agencies and other professionals, we have developed and are supervising comprehensive probation programs for the following offenses:

  • Alcohol Intoxication
Individuals are referred to their choice of a local treatment agency for an alcohol evaluation. Any recommended treatment is then followed through completion and release by agency. An individual not required to undergo any long-term treatment is often referred to a set nuymber of AA meetings and KAP monitors their attendance.
  • DUI
All DUI offenders are provided with a listing of the local DUI treatment agencies.  Once the agency is selected KAP monitors their participation through completion so their license can be reinstated.  Any DUI 1st offender interested in obtaining a Hardship License is provided with all the requirements and assistance in filling out both the Application for Hardship and the Order.  These are returned to the courts for KAP for review and approval based on the courts' procedural preference.
  • No auto insurance
KAP monitors individuals referred for driving without auto insurance for a period of 12 months.  Defendants need to provide KAP with proof of insurance containing the name and phone number of their local insurance agency.  Agencies are contacted once each month to insure ongoing coverage.  If at any time insurance is cancelled individuals are returned to court for review.
  • Shoplifting
In many areas that KAP serves classes/counseling are provided for individuals charded with Theft by Unlawful Taking.  Frequently these individuals have an underlying drug/alcohol abuse problem that needs to be addressed before he theft practice can be eliminated.  This is evaluated and the proper treatment monitored.
  • Theft by deception
When individuals have written bad checks, they are usually unable to pay them in full at the time of their court appearance.  KAP will establish a payment plan agter contact with the victim(s) and a determination  is made of the total amount to be repaid.  Offenders are then required to bring into KAP a set amount in money orders that are then forwareded to the victim(s) until all monies are repaid.
  • Sexual offenders
These defendants are referred to area counselors for evaluation and recommendation for treatment.  This treatment is monitored until completion and release from counseling.
  • Domestic violence and assault
KAP works directly with state-mandated local domestic violence programs.  We provide offenders with a list of the local State Certified Providers for them to make their choice.  A referral is then forwarded to the selected agency and treatment is monitored through completion.  If at any time individuals discontinue dreatment, their case is returned to the court for an immediate review.
  • Drug possession and other related offenses
Defendants are referred to a local alcohol/drug treatment agency for an evaluation and completion of any recommended treatment.  Their progress is monitored until release from selected agency.  Frequently, individuals convicted of posession of drugs are ordered to have random drug screens.  KAP provides random drug screens with results in 5 to 8 minutes.  If the test is positive it is then sent to a certified lab for verification.  When a screen comes back positve these individuals are generally returned to the courts as violating the terms of their release or probation.
  • Restitution repayment coordination
  • Child support collection coordination

In addition, Kentucky Alternative Programs will monitor all offenders regardless of offense as assigned by the court.

We at Kentucky Alternative Programs are committed to serving all probationers assigned to us by the courts, regardless of their ability to pay.

Many times probationers of limited financial resources require significant supervision and evaluation.  Kentucky Alternative Programs can provide for these probationers so long as our case load is an accurate reflection of the distribution of total cases that move through the court.
